Have you checked the rubber couplers to see if anything is melting? What does "smelling bad" mean? Does it smell like burning rubber/oil?

How are you measuring the heat -- you driving around and then get out and feel the side of the car -- what side of the car is the warmest?

How long have you had the car for? If it's new the cats are breaking in.

if you are smelling rotten eggs, then that is normal. that is the cats speeding up the reaction of unburnt fuel. if your temp gauge is going up i would definately take it in. we just had a member on the forums have to get a new engine bc his fan relay went out and the engine overheated. as long as the temp gauge does not go above half way you should be fine

I'm not sure what the thermostat set point is on our cars, but my coolant gage reads between 180 an 200 degrees F.

when you are flooring it alot and your cats are working over time to burn all the excess fuel you are dumping in the engine. if you are ever behind a car when they floor it and take off you will know exactly what im talking about.

many ricers (moreso the ones with turbos) will tune their cars to run rich, and then you smell it constantly.

Our engines get VERY hot.
If the car is driven hard, it sometimes puts off a 'smell'... but it goes away fairly quickly.

You'll also see vapor when it's raining.

My car heats up pretty quickly with the weather we have here, but I only feel it when I open my door and the hot air rushes in from under the car...that's normal.....as for smelling burning that hasn't happened to me yet......and isn't the smell of rotten eggs your battery? I've had a battery leak on me and it smellled just like that rotten damn eggs
