Evap Leak...Grabbing straws here.

Hi all....

I know that this is a shot in the dark but I thought I'd give it a try. My check engine light came on last week and after a few days remained on. I had one of the guys in work check it and put it out and it was out for a few days but came on again today. The code he read was Po455 "Evap Gross Leak".

Now I know you can't diagnose over the phone but is there something thats real common to trigger this code? I wouldn't mind having one of the guys at work diag this (I work at a Chry/Jeep dealer) but I would take it to Infiniti if need be. I'm at 44k, so it may be a warranty issue or not. The gas cap is tight.

Thanks...

Mike

I see this was moved...sorry, guess I wasn't where I thought I was

Gas cap throws Evap code. I know this cause from my wife's Murano doing this and guys a autozone sucessfully diagnosing..... my SES light just kicked on too and its prolly the same thing.... it take a few starts&run cycles for this to go away even after the cap is tight.... I'd give it some time (a week?) and if it is still on after your cap is tight either take it to infiniti or put some Vaseline on your gas cap seal and wait again.... this was the trick that worked on my wifes MO, and again the autozone guys gave it to me.... for now I am waiting on my G to see if the SES goes away, if its still on this week I'll go to autozone and get there help again ..... G'luck! -Kregg

Just for reference my SES light just turned off today. I didnt drive it very often last week so not as many as normal start/stop cycles. And I was just on my way to Autozone to have the OBDII scanned.... lol

I dropped the car off at an Infiniti dealer tonite. I'll keep yooze posted.

Mike

ps...wow..what a nice place

Ok...here's the deal. The tether that keeps the gas cap from getting lost was getting caught under the cap. When you would tighten the gas cap, it would tighten and ratchet like normal and seem to be installed properly but it would not seal. The tech said he had never seen that before. It looks like I'm all set now.
