I have a sedan G35x 2007 with about 48K miles on it. I've noticed that the manual shift is having issues when I keep it on the manual shift mode. It stays on manual for a bit then changes to automatic and disables the manual shift option. what is going on? will warranty cover this? Thanks guys/gals.

Is it in full manual mode, meaning did you shift the lever to the left and then down or up (or paddle shifter)?
Because if you have it in auto and you paddle shift it will eventually return to full auto if there is no shift for a while.

If it is in full manual mode and returns to auto then it should definetely be covered in you're warranty. Take it to the dealer asap. That should not be happening.

He has an X. Pretty sure there are no paddle shifters unless he installed them.

edpark - I drive the same model. If you put it in manual it should stay there until you put it back in D.
Your owners manual will tell you if the tranny is still under warranty. Get it checked out.
If there are any engine modifications I would not let Infiniti know about them. Could void any potential warranty.

I couldn't agree more, you should def have them take a look at it. Everything should be covered under warranty I can't see how it wouldn't, with the exeption of mods as rpm said. Keep up posted and good luck with it.

I have actually been having issues with mine as well. I have a 2007 G35 Sport Sedan with about 23k miles and when I switch from A/T to the Manumatic (Paddle Shifters) I notice that sometimes when I push it, the gear kind of gets stuck or it has a 1-2 second delay. Also the tires seem to "skip" I guess you would say...Anybody else experiencing edpark30's or my issues??

happened to me twice already. it is some wire that gets clipped or something thats the BS story i got from my dealer the shift column had to be replaced no warranty problem with that, just take it in and should be set.

thanks guys for the replies, I will call the dealership and bring the car in. It has been happening more often now. The last several times, turning off my engine did not fix the issue. By the way, I always shift to the left and then up or downshift so that it designates a specific gear. The issue is that it does not go to manual mode at all, or it goes to manual mode, and specifies a gear and then goes to automatic within a very short time span (less than 3-4 minutes). Any word from the stealership yet Ed? I can't imagine it not being covered under warranty

Hey guys, just got the car back from the dealership. They said it was a valve control problem and replaced it. I thought it fixed the problem, but the issue came back about an hour later (10-15 miles). Therefore, I scheduled another appt. with the dealership and I'm bringing it back again. What do you think guys/gals? One fellow user said it was the shift column, but I'm not sure. Thanks again.

wow your delership is retarted huh. its a common problem and they should pulled the codes.

I have a similar problem. I installed pedals and have not been using a ****er. I try to upshift and it does not work, downshift does. If I play with it long enough is will up ship but takes about 5-6 jerks. Once in a while it stops working and shows D on the dash board, even when shifter is in DS mode. Stealer told me it's because I installed teh peddals. They are overriding the shifter. I'm not buying it.

a code indicates what is wrong with the car and these codes can be pulled with a scanner

Codes do not show anything. I acctually talked to the tech who worked on the car. He told me that he likes to mode his car as well and knew all about it. He said that way car is wided, there is not enough energy to support both peddals and shiffter. My problems started after my battery died because of broken belt. He suggested I get an optima red yellow top battery

I call on this one.
A lot of us are running paddles and we're not having shifter problems. Unless the paddles were installed wrong, it has absolutely nothing to do with the issue.
Does your tech realize that the same car, with the same wiring, comes from the factory in the S model and they are all fine?
Or is he going to now tell you that the S models have more "power" going to their paddles?
