Then what supercharger is? Don't tell me root style or twin screw. :P Unless you invented a new supercharger, centrifugal is still the best supercharger out there.

Well that depends on what you mean...I personally prefer a screw type because they are very effecient and offer the low end power centrifugals don't. Plus, according to whipple, their superchargers are more efficient than centrifugals...but I have doubts on their claims.

GT-ER seems to understand.

You said "efficient," then you say "best." It is by no means the most efficient, and it's "best" depending on your application.

The simple fact of the matter, and what my post stated, is that it isn't the most efficient of all s/c's.

Ok, I was writing in general. In my view, a supercharger or a turbo can be rated by these properties:
- Flow rate
- Size/weight
- Ease of installation

Centrifugal superchargers dominates all other superchargers as of those properties. Thus, it is the best supercharger to me. You can argue on the other aspects but for power efficiency, centrifugal is the one I will pickup for low boost application.

Good old arguments. LOL

I don't think there is such a thing as the best s/c. It depends what you looking for to be the best. Power at low end/high end, less maint., price. It is all subjective. It might be the best for you for this car might not the best for your other car or not as good for somebody else.

Not trying to put oil on the fire just my .02 cents actually .021 canadian cents

No worries, we're just having a good 'ole debate.

However, addressing your points above, I'm not sure that a centri is always the easiest to install. If you're installing one with an intercooler (which shouldn't even be considered w/o one, imo), then you have a whole lot of piping that needs to be routed and the intercooler needs to be mounted to the front frame assembly. In that sense, a roots/screw is usually easier to install, as most times the intercooler is beneath the compressor assembly.

Other than that, I agree. A centri will make more overall power, but it depends on what each individual's goals are. Me personally, I'd rather have less total HP, but more usable HP and more low rpm torque=screw/roots. Or better yet, turbo

But you forgot one of the most important things...powerband.

Yeah, you two got some points. I am a fan of big turbo which means aggressive curb in the powerband. Centrifugal lies between turbo and twin screw supercharger. That's why I love it that much beside turbo.
For installation, I have installed/fabricated intercooler pipes so I have no problem with them. But, pull the cylinder head out and install a supercharger on it requires more works to me. About maintenance issue, centrifugal pretty much like a turbo with a driven belt instead of exhaust housing. All of the parts are out side so you can maintain, replace, or fix it easily.
