WTF: Dealer wants to Replace the Tranny on 07

On my 07 G35X with 22,600 miles, I've experienced a hard shift into 3rd gear, primarily in manual mode on the automatic tranny. Last year they replaced the Valve body. It was better. Now I am experiencing hard shift into 3rd gear in any mode : D , DS, or manual mode. After it warms up, it's better, but still a hard shift in manual mode. After the warmup, it shifts smoothly, in D and DS. Had it checked out again this week. Dealer says can't find one particular problem, recommended to replace the Transmission !! On Warranty.... Should I do that? It is a leased car, but I'm toying with buying it in June. I can't get over how quickly the Dealer is ready to install a new tranny. "if it ain't Broke.....

Why not it is under warranty? As long as it is paid for so be it.

You may be right. If they f___k it up, I can ask them to replace it again....Before I buy it, if I elect to in June.

I would definately let the dealer put in the new tranny, at the very least you'll have one of your major components on a car you plan to keep with no miles on it
Most dealers would be trying to find reasons NOT to put a new tranny in your car, so for them to SUGGEST installing a new one must mean they're quite
perplexed about your current tranny and this is the best option. I'd jump on it (unless you think the dealers service dept. isn't very competent).

I guess you guys are right.... Now thinking about it, I did develop a nice relationship with Service Advisor over the 3 years I;ve been going to the Dealership. If the problem of the hard shift is still there after the new tranny is installed, well then I will have a new tranny....
Do you guys experience this "hard shift" into 3rd gear ? I've read elsewhere here that it s somewhat common...

a little harsh shifting is normal when really cold. tranny oil needs to fully warm up. If I was you I'd replace the tranny and keep the old one

Ha, Ha.....Can I do That ??? Then if the new one is worse than the former one, I can swap them again....LOL...Kidding aside, Is the tranny replacement just remove the old one and install the new one. Or is more complicated than that. It's the aftermath of making major changes that I worry about: Other things start to go haywire...VDC, Traction Control, electronic throttle by wire issues??? Am I too ****?

Bottomline: I'd have a new tranny (if the Service Advisor gets that approved] in ac car that I am seriously considering to buy at lease end. Only 22.5K on the clock.

Here's some info...

I have an '07 G35S 5AT...the 2-3 upshift is hard in manual mode. No other upshifts, or any downshifts, are that rough. It does not happen in automatic mode at all.

I recall that quite a few people posted about the rough 2-3 upshift in manual mode, but there was no real resolution and it was apparently not a big deal. It may have also been that it only occurred with the paddle shifters and not the gear selector, not sure.
