Take it no questions asked IMO! You are getting a new tranny without any abuse and its under warranty and will be replaced by certified Infiniti techs that do this all the time and are very familiar with it, which means you are guaranteed quality reliable work and that too with a warranty! win win!!

Plus you can keep the stocker, build it and use if you plan on a lot more power.

Codeflux: Wondering isn't my issue... You are right - it appears to be a no brainer....My concerns are what if they F__k up something else in the process. But you and many others so grab the new tranny. I am going to call them today, go forth with the Service Advisor/Manager prognosis and get the new tranny. They need to get that Approved by Infiniti. So we will see..... Dealerships are eager to do warranty work - goes without saying - they get paid some big bucks.

Update on the Tranny Replacement: Told Dealer that I want to proceed. He needs to get Infiniti Approval, and will call to schedule the job once approved and the tranny is obtained.

NICE!!! and dont worry too much about them messing anything else up, a few have had their trannies replaced here without any issues, and you are getting it done by the dealer who deals with these cars 24/7 and back their work so i would not worry too much.

However once you get your car and have broken in the tranny i would go back and have the dealer check to make sure everything is ok with no leaks or such.

kool: Good thought... Breaak in the new tranny on a car with 22K is something to keep in mind - looking for leaks on the new connections is also something to consider....

I guess first thing's first. Let's see if Infiniti Approves this tranny replacement on the Dealer's advisement. BTW, now the temperatures have tempered a little here in the North east, the hard shift into 3rd gear is less harsh, but still there until she warms up to full operating temperature. Then the hard shift in D and DS modes is less noticeable, But still there in manual Mode, unless you play with the throttle. It's definetely a harder shift than the other gears...

Update on the New Tranny: getting it done on Monday. Dealer got it approved and shipped to them..... 2 day job, they give me a loaner. I'll post when its done and the results. I probably should have the Serpintine belt replaced while we are at it?? Also need to ask about the warranty on the new tranny as well...

Update on the new Tranny: Dealer had it down today. Car was ready in the early PM. remarkable. The hard shift into 3rd gear appears to be much better. I'll test it at first cold start up tomorrow morning, but it seams better right out of the shoot..... This dealership - Pepe infiniti - White Plains NY has been great. I will give it a few days, and the service advisor, [no names] told me to drive it like you breaking in a new car.....

Thanks to all for the feedback. It calmed my fears about doing this. I'm a natural born worrier, who has done some other things to cars that result in further problems.

Update on the new Tranny for my 2007 G35X. Yep, there was problem in the tranny shifting from 2 to 3rd gear. With new tranny, shifts are smoother even when cold at start up. I am very pleased with the results. Many, many Kudos to my Dealer: Pepe Infiniti in White Plains, NY. The service people there have been Outstanding!!. They called me on a Friday, brought the car in Monday in the am, said it may take 2 days to complete - gave me a loaner. The service advisor [Ed, no last names] calls me at 2PM on monday - Car's ready ... WOW.

Nations: Although I didn't need to do this, insist on taking a major drive with the service manager. My problem was first noticeable over a year ago, mostly in manual mode (auto tranny). Cold or after warm up, it was a hard - jerked shift into 3rd. Better if i played with the throttle on the shift much like using a manual tranny. But mostly, it was a noticeable hard shift. The dealer replaced the valve body and it ws better. The hard shifting returned with usage and worse as it got colder in the fall, here in NY area. Then I brought 'er in this January and story described earlier unfolded into a New tranny. It's great now. There's a slight harder shift into 3rd in manual mode, but overall, it's much much better. I didn't do any insisting with dealer, they found the problem to exist and installed the new tranny.

i wonder if your problem is the same issue that all of use regular G35 5AT people are having though? mine does it when u shift at high rpms and maybe 50%+ throttle when going into 3rd in manual mode. happens once in a while when im trying to go fast
