Low RPM noise in VQ35HR, am I the only one?

Guys I only had this '08 for a month while enjoying it there is this strange noise that happens only around 1,700 rpm which sounds like a light banging on a tin can. It happens whether cold or warm, in drive or in park, and only in a very narrow band between 1600~1800 rpm. Otherwise the car drives perfect. I searched every forum but cannot find any related stories. The dealer here told me it is normal noise from the CVTC and I must either live with it or buy their ester oil change to reduce the noise. I can certainly live with it, but is that true this is a normal thing for the VQ35HR?

There is a TSB for that where you can hear "tapping metal sounds" from near the passenger side when the rpms are rising between 1500-2000rpm regardless of being in gear or idle.

There was some issue with the heater core, just take it to your dealer and they should be able to take care of it for you for free.

As for the CVTC thing i am certain that issue does not apply to 07-08 G35's, it only applies to the G37's (and some require easter oil to keep it quiet) which ours do not, correct me if im wrong please.

They could be trying to avoid doing the work, just print the TSB from infnitihelp.com and take it with you. Hope this helps

Found it: ITB07-007, Tapping noise from dash area when engine is running. My VIN is included! This is what I am going to show the dealer. Fingers crossed...

^ like i said im pretty sure that "fix" is only for the G37's which have the continuous variable timing on the exhaust as well as the intake.

Lightsout, that is what my dealer told me too. But aside from nuance, is there any negative impact from this noise to the engine cams etc? If not I think I can live with it and I'd stay with dino oil. It is hard to justify the $150 ester oil change with a brief moment of quietness. Most of the time it is revved way above 2k anyway.
