Hey Guys,

After installing the auto-kits rear diffuser, the uncentered tips have became more noticiable. I had a local shop install the exhaust and I wasnt around to see how the centered them initially. Can anyone give me some tips for a DIY, im sure its pretty basic.

I'd say just look under the car and see which screws are holding up the rear end exhaust.

Loosen a few and see if ti starts to move, if it does then loosen some more and the start re-tightening and the nuts but making sure to keep the tips centered, a friend would probably be helpful.

 

i had to loosen the 3 bolts on the cats for bothe sides and turn it a little to get it to be better centered, still need to perfect it soon though. Also an easier step to try first is to slide the hangers in/out and left/right to move the exhaust around a little.

 

if you get a big enough breaker bar up in there you can pull or push the tips (bending the hangars ) left or right depending on which way it needs to go. thats what i had to do with my FI system when i got it. one of the hangers was slightly off.

 

thanks for the replys, the problem with mine is that one is sitting higher then the other. I'll see what I can do tonight.

 

take a hammer, disconnect the muffler that you want to adjust and lightly bend the hanger that holds that muffler up/down with the hammer.

 

Id suggest stopping by the local shop and just asking them to center it. If they installed the exhaust, you didn't pay them to have it looking like ***, so im sure its something they could do very quickly for you. You could do it yourself but I don't see the point in paying to have something done and it not being done right then fixing it yourself. my 2cents

 

in that case its even easier!!! if you look at your rear hanger (the one closest to your bumper) you can see they are held on by 2 Screws. if you take those off you can pull down on the hangar and slide some washers onto the bolt. retighten and you have effectively lowered your tip down to be level with the other.

 

Depending on your specific exhaust setup, look for the clamp at the rear section. Loosen and rotate slightly to bring the tip to the correct level and tighten it back up. This helps to adjust the hieght as well as the centering of the tips.
Also, as mentioned above... the hanger needs to be adjusted.

 

Yup, this is exatly how I straightened and centered mine. I removed the rear muffler section and used a heavy rubber mallet to bend the hanger pins a little at a time. It took a few tries to get them exact, but it was worth it.
