2007 G35x Sedan exhaust question
If you have to ask...
The FI setup isn't cheap, but it's damn nice. Plan on spending a little more than 1K unless you can find a deal on a slightly used system.
Look at any aftermarket setup. Not one of them has a separate setup for AWD models. I installed my system in my garage and I came up with no fitment issues at all.

The passenger side front pipe has to be customized for the Invidia catback to fit the AWD transfer case. The Fast Intentions website has pics of the clearance issues. If manufacturers would prototype the AWD model, then their exhaust system would fit both RWD and AWD models (Stillen did this). Unfortunately, the exhaust makers prototype RWD cars and end up not leaving space for the transfer case on AWD models.
New here...just got an 07 G35S sedan today as a work car...
WHAT can I do (simple) that will get more of the coupe sound out of the sedan exhaust???
I saw somewhere that swapping the midpipe to a coupe one makes it about 20% louder which is all I am really looking for...I will drive this car about 2000 miles a month and don't want rasp, loud or problems OR to spend $1000 on an exhaust for a car I will only be in for a year to 18 mos.
So, anyone? Will the midpipe swap WORK? If so, where can I get one without too much cost?
Thanks!

Ok -so what can I do to modify the sound more towards the coupe rumble and volume without rasp?
I was told cutting out a front resonator and leaving the mufflers was all that had to be done...but then someone else said that it would be raspy as the first resonator is what smoothes the tone...so should that be left in place...and remove the mufflers in the rear completely?? Or is that super loud?
Again, want a deep growl and to hear it inside the car while driving - but not wanting drone driving me crazy....

So then the FX wasn't supposed to be luxury? I totally agree with you btw.
I don't mind spending $200 for just a little more sound if a few things can just be cut out of it...or up to $400 maybe $500 if there is some performance gain OR gas mileage increase...
Again, since it is work car needs to be mild, and I will most likely only drive it a year and turn it over and get a newer one...so investing $1000 in a stillen exhaust I like...won't happen.
I spoke with a local performance shop and he said he could just remove a resonator and it would be about 10-15% louder and have more coupe-like tone, but isn't sure if it would be raspy or not....I think that front resonator just cuts out the rasp but would be willing to try that for $100 for sure. Cutting out both back mufflers is a no way so I guess on a super low budget "trial" that's my first option.
Any other ideas?

ok - I get that it needs to be custom since I refuse to drop $1100 on a car for "work" LOL - I have modified everything I have ever driven and can't drive a car stock all day for sure!!
Question remains...what do I do? Cut a resonator out, swap to a Y pipe somewhere or an X pipe or what?
Anyone know?
Certainly I am NOT the only sedan owner who wants to rumble like the coupe...
