Engine turns on but can't drive.... n e thoughts?
Hi,
I drive a 2007 G35, and while going around 30 mph on highway I felt the gear shifting (or jumping) causing the car to aggressively speed up and slow down randomly. Every time the car came into a complete stop, it wouldn't accelerate until in 2500 rmp range. After getting off the highway I parked it on side of the street, and turned off the engine. When I turned the engine back on, everything seems to work, but I couldn't get the car to move either in reverse or drive. Stepping on the acceleration would only cause the RPM to increase, just as in a parked mode.
The dealership will be taking a look at it on monday but I'm afraid it may not be covered in warranty.
I'm thinking its some software/computer related issue, but anyone else experienced similar, or have any thoughts regarding this??
Thanks!

A similar problem occurred to an old Honda Accord which I took a look. It probably a malfunction Auto Transmission Control Unit. I would swap the TCU to see if the problem is solved. Dealer may want to exaggerate the problem to hardware issue just to rip you off. Let pray your dealer is a good ethical one.
Thanks Phalanx,
It should be covered by warranty, its only been two months since I purchased the car (used, but certified). I'll make sure they check the TCU. The dealership in Hawaii is actually pretty honest, so I'm thinking they would take care of the problem. Thanks!
