Engine sputters when really cold out..this normal?

This morning it was -9 out. Car struggled to start this am with 2 days of just sitting. After it started the RPM's fluctuated and sputtered really fast for about 5 min then went away..normal due to temp??It also has a slight vibration when idling at a stop sign or in traffic sitting

I want to change spark plugs and clean throttle body but i dont seen a procedure for removing spark plugs..is there one out there? I am nervous about cleaning the throttle body as i saw the thread and seen lots of people with issues.

There's nothing wrong with cleaning the TB's. Some people did not follow the directions properly which is why they had issues. Now, as far as spark plugs go, it's also an easy process. Don't have a DIY for that though, haven't needed to replace mine yet.

Its most likely a 5w30 dino oil. Using a synthetic. Oil would be better as it has much better cold flow temp

Castrol edge 5w-30 flows well at lower temps

Okay thanks.

I just went out to the store and sat in some traffic. Idling is fine for first 5 seconds when at a light..then when it drops a little more is when you can feel the vibration in your *** and back as well as shifter ect. I was planning on changing to oil soon anyways and was thinking about doing synthetic. Maybe i will give it a try

does the idle drop/vibrate for a couple seconds then goes back up again or does it remain lower than normal?

Well when i come to say a red light..idle goes down to 800..then after 5 sec it drops to what looks like 750 and that's when the bulk of the vibration occurs and it stays right at 750 ish until i take off.

I am going to do a synthetic oil change in a few weeks along with cleaning the TB. I think the TB may be pretty dirty but the car was serviced at an infiniti dealer during the recommended mileage. Do they clean the TB if you don't ask them to?

It wouldn't have to do with the transmission would it..since it does it when the car isn't in motion?

I don't think so as it's not part of the maintenance schedule.

Idle RPM fully warmed up with all accessories off should be 650RPM +/- 50RPM

^ Yea so 750 is pretty close to normal. Is this only when you first turn on your car? Does it stop after is has warmed up?

The idle vibration happens no matter how cold or warm the car is. When its cold and i drive for the first few miles and come to a stop..it idles at about 900-1000 where there is a lot more vibration but it drops down to 750 ish after its warmed up and will have these vibrations.

Its weird. 900-1000 rpm is a pretty rough idle. When i accelerate from a red light its rough until i get past 1000 and its gone. But sitting in traffic after the car is warmed up..you can feel the slight vibration even when the car is warm. In your butt, lower back a well as a little of the floor. Its weird because you can't feel any of these vibrations in the back seat.

Bad motor mount?? I have no idea where they are located and how to check if they are bad. What would you suggest i do first? TB cleaning? Check motor mounts if i even can? Change to synthetic oil?

I refuse to bring it to Infiniti and have them charge $200 to check it to tell me nothing is wrong and its normal. Maybe it is normal? I have no idea if slight vibrations are normal at idle in these vehicles.

I have a local mechanic that does great work for cheap that i know..i just dont know if he has experience with cars like these

Edit: When i put it in park you don't feel it..it only happens when its in D or R

Well i just took my car out to go to work..its snowing out. I noticed that it didn't vibrate at all because the car's RPM's were right at 800 when idling. Had heat on, seat warmers ect. Leave work to come home...its not doing it again. I sat in my drive way still in drive to see if it would do it and it took about 5 min for the RPM's to drop to 700 ish and it started doing it

I noticed last snow storm i was driving in it didn't do it either. It seems like the crappier the weather..the less it vibrates..how weird is that?

Try adding lucas lubricant additive. It will eliminate the cold start problem if that doesn't work go take it in to infiniti.
