Engine sounds like a diesel when cold

This happened with my old engine that blew up as well as the new one so i guess it's normal..but man..when you start the car up next to 2 other cars..it sounds like a loud diesel

Normal? Sounds like lifters or exhaust

Somewhat normal depending on how loud it is. Our lifters make a lot of noise when cold. Same thing in every G/Z I see.
