Y-Pipe vs. X-Pipe and Drone

I have the rear muffler delete with a straight pipe however I am getting a lot of cabin drone, especially between 1700-2200 rpms. At first it was manageable but now it is getting quite annoying. I've read a lot of forums where people say replacing a Y-pipe like in our sedans with a X-pipe will decrease the drone tremendously. Can anyone confirm this for our cars?

On a side note, I went to a muffler shop today and the guy recommended putting a second set of resonators where I have the straight pipe to decrease the drone. Basically these will act as rear mufflers but because they are straight and a lot smaller, he said it wont dampen the engine sound I am trying to create. Is this counter-productive? I got rid of the rear mufflers to hear the engine. Will putting a second set of resonators in the rear defeat that purpose?

So you still have the stock rear mufflers on. Those babies are huge so I'm assuming that is why you are not getting any drone but how does the car sound from the outside? Any meaner? Got any sound clips?

I think it sounds pretty decent,,, wife even likes it! if anything there is a just a bit of rasp, fairly high up the rev range,, and you have to be really on it to hear it.. prolly a little "meaner" but still pretty quiet..... no i don't have any sound footage...
