OEM air intakes box filter replacements with Aftermarket air filter pod?

OEM air intakes box filter replacements with Aftermarket air filter pod?

i guys i have a 07 G35X, with stick air intake, i was wondering can i just replace the stock air filter box with an aftermarket air filter pod only?
i keep everything else stock, nothing changes besides the air filter boxes??

Yes, but what exactly are you hoping to accomplish? The stock box was designed to get a small boost from air compression at speed, so eliminating isn't necessarily better. You're unlikely to gain anything but noise, and quite like to actually lose power with a homemade setup like that. Simply adding a hi-flowing air filter element (like K&N) to the stock box would surely be much better.

You could always add a plate like on the inlet side of the boxes and then mount a cone filter and cut the top of the lid off to create a box for the filters and have cold air intake look. IDK if its any better at all then adding a K&N drop in filter, but you could always do it and let us know!






I did one similar to this on my last car but it sat further into the airbox for more protection and heat shielding but you get the idea
