'07 G35x 5at Exhaust mods

Car is pretty much bone stock and I'd like to start upgrading the exhaust. Looking for a bit more aggressive sound and a bit more pep without breaking the bank.

Now as I understand it the biggest points of restriction are the cats followed by the Y-pipe. The stock mufflers actually flow fairly well. I was looking at Concept-Z performance and saw ISR Y-pipe and Kinetix HFC for decent deals.

Anyone have experience with this setup? How is the sound, any power gains?

From what I've heard, going with HFC's can get pretty loud. I just did a muffler delete on mine and I'm pretty happy with the sound I get from it. Idle is noticeably louder and she sings from 2k to 3k under load, but is very tolerable when cruising, and depending on your taste in music, you might not even notice it.

HFC's and test pipes are where you will get any power gains, If you go with test pipes make sure you get ones that are resonated, or you chance getting a ton of drone from it.

Thanks, I thought HFC and test pipes would be the same thing? Meaning you have to choose one or the other? I definitely dont want anything too loud, my main goal is to open up the exhaust tract and alleviate some restriction.

Unfortunately my 1 year old brakes have worn out so i just ordered new calipers and pads. Exhaust mods may have to wait a while.

High Flow Cats are just what their name implies, Test Pipes are literally a cat delete pipe. Any reduction in flow restriction will result in an increase in noise, test pipes will generally be the loudest, HFC's will be mid level and a basic muffler delete will generally be the quietest of the options.

Right so HFC shouldn't actually be that loud especially with the stock cat back system.
