P0171 and P0174

The SES light came on on me yesterday and when I scanned the codes, I get P0171 and P0174. Most diagnoses say to look at the MAF (or clean it) or look for leaks in the intake. As we know, the HR has dual intakes, two MAFs, etc so the odds of both MAFs failing or being dirty or an air intake leak are pretty much slim to zero. I'll check those things out but after this, what direction should I head ?

Anyone know what this part is called ? It's part of the crankcase ventilation system. It's shown here, https://parts.infinitiusa.com/a/INFI...6_US_118B.html, but the part itself isn't called out so I'm guessing it comes as part of the intake tube assembly.

Yeah, definitely looks like it's only sold with the air intake tube. I couldn't find a name for it either. It looks like it's just a manifold though, I wonder if you could replace it with something like this (not necessarily that exact one). Sorry if that link doesn't work, it's for a "Dayco hose connector".

I was able to find it later - "air duct resonator". Part # 16585-JK21D. Cost is $150 for a new one I found on eBay and that ain't happening. I found some salvage yards with complete air intake assemblies that I was going to call about because I'd need to make sure they include this resonator.

I've bought (2) different T-fittings to try, one metal and one plastic. I actually taped it up good enough that I cleared the code and it hasn't returned. I prefer to use the metal (brass ?) fitting but it's pretty small vs the plastic fitting that's probably 2x larger.

The metal T fitting worked although I did have to run to O'Reilly to get a little longer hose for the one that comes off the intake. The existing hose would have worked but the T would be under some tension, though I could seal it with the clamp. They gave me a scrap piece for no charge so I can't complain. If anything, I need to replace the clamps with tension-style ones !

Ya know, I was going to suggest seeing if another year/model had that part or a similar one that was sold individually. Nice find and good info for future reference. Your fix is probably more solid though and a lot cheaper than the OE part.

Definitely cheaper - the fitting was less than $5 plus a few hose clamps. The actual part was $150, at least the only one I could find, which was a "new" one via eBay. It's just a resonator and since I don't have the stock air intakes anymore, I doubt there's any real-world impact. Car is running fine too.
