So recently I had my oil pressure light start coming on sporadically. It was never more than about a half second, and was very inconsistent in relation to idle speed. Sometimes would flash when the engine got down to 700, and other times it would idle at 600 and no flash at all. I was about due for an oil change, so I didn't worry much. After the oil change it became more consistent, around 650RPM, but if I let the car creep forward and then jerked to a stop it would cause the light to go out for a few seconds. So over the weekend I changed the oil a second time as well as replaced the pressure sensor, and now it comes on around 1000RPM. The gallery gaskets were replaced almost 3 years ago (less than 20k miles since then) and I've never had any codes pop up. Oil level was verified each time and was always in the normal range and I've only used 5w-30. My 3 thoughts are: Clogged pickup tube filter, Oil pump going bad, or bad luck with sensors and no actual issue. My next step is to get a oil pressure test kit and hook it up to see what pressures are actually at, and after that drop the pan and check the pickup tube. Has anybody else had anything similar happen? Any other things I should check before I pull my hair out?
