CD-R Problems

Hello All:

I just recently brought my wife a 07 G35x with Premium, Technology and Nav. packages. She really loves this car but the stereo system is causing me majors problems. I can't for the life of me seem to get a CD-R burned using Iturnes to work. Just keep getting 'Disc Read Error'. I have tried verbatim and TDK discs to no avail. I would like to transfer her extensive iTunes library to the HD but can't get the dang them to read a non-purchased disc.

Anyone got any advice for me. The HD is turning out to be useless to me if I can't get her iTune files transferred to it somehow.

Thanks
Marc

If you are trying to copy to the HD I think you need to use the original disks not iTunes created compilations. I may be wrong as I don't have the tech package. I'm sure someone else will chime in soon.

If they are audio CD's try burning them at a lower speed. Some can't read it when your burn it above 24x.

I am burning audo CD using Itunes 7.1.1.5. I dropped the burn speed down to 24x and had the same problem. I also dropped to to 20x with no success.

At this rate, the MB option is starting to seem like a real gimmick. My itunes library consists of over 9500 songs (most of which MP3) but it is starting to appear that there is no way from me to get my legally purchased ITunes songs from my computer to my car. Infiniti was very narrow minded in how they determined songs could be transferred in general as I am now having to re-burn songs to CD just to extract them to car. Would have been so much easier to just copy from Compact Flash.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

I've never burned CDs using iTunes, but all my audio CDs that I've burned using Nero have worked on the MB.

Thought I would give you guys an update as I am surely not the last to have this problem. After numerious attempt at every speed from Max to 4x using Memorex, TDK, Verbatim media burned using Itunes, Musicmatch and Windows Media Player I had no success at all playing them in the single CD player. However, putting any of the CD's in the changer worked fine, but doesn't help if you want to transfer them to the MusicBox. So for grins, I took a copy of older CD-R I had that were Memorex and what do you know, they worked fine in the car. So, I decided to give TDK CD-R another shot using a different CD Burner and this time IT WORKED FINE !!!!!! It appears that the single CD player doesn't like CD's burned using a LightScribe drive (or at least my LightScribe drive.)

the drive and the disk make a big difference. I'm quite surprised dropping to 4x didn't help though. The big box brands (memorex, TDK, verbatim, sony, etc) media are not always the same from spindle to spindle (or box to box if you buy them that way). They outsource to different manufacturers and that might make a difference. I tend to stick with a specific brand (costs more but I get more guaranteed results) by buying Taiyo Yuden manufacturered disks online.

Different drives also have their lasers calibrated differently, and may result in burns that some CD players are unable to pick up.

It's unfortunate though, but you'd think that something as modern as our G wouldn't have problems with any burned discs .
