Help me! I need to remove console

I try to remove the console finisher to finally access the A/V unit. This is the area where the trash, lighter, and shift **** located.
According to manual, I have shift **** removed. Then try to remove 2 metal clips from rear and then remove pawl of front. I tried and couldn't get it out. When I try to pray it out, it sounds like the metal surface glue with the area below. I don't want to break thing.

Please help! what is your experience. How do you get it out.

There's no glue, but the shifter trim goes UNDER the middle console trim (the one with the clock). You have to pull up the back of the shifter trim, then pull back (towards the back of the car) and push the front down a bit (because the shifter trim is under like I said).

IF you pull and it doesn't come out right, then you're doing it wrong...

And remember there are 2 connectors under the shifter trim, and you don't have a whole lot of slack, so don't pull too hard.

But do you need to pray the clip and pawl before you pull it up and back out?

I have trouble unclip it.

Don't look at me... You don't need to apply any crazy amount of force to anything.

Did you look at this page from the service manual?

No, I don't look at you. I look at the manual. I have the manual but still couldn't figure out how to get that damn thing off.

Then you probably shouldn't be trying, right?

I removed my last weekend ... no need to pry just pull back gently. It really comes loose in a smooth motion.

Problem solved.
Don't know what year your car is but there is no way you just pull without prying. My is 07 sedan.

I missed step1 from the manual. And yes, the washi surface glued to the black plastic. I just didn't go all the way down.

I get it hacked to play video from the RCA input from armrest. I got backup camera from ebay for $127. This is same one as avelectronic except the frame is chrome.
