So friday the maintenance alert for the oil came on in the center dash and has been coming on every time i start my G. I barely got 2050k, so its too soon. might have to take the car to the dealer and smack'em around lol, anyone else have the same issue?

 

is it pre-programmed to tell you when you have to change your oil? Or do you have to set that yourself under the Maintenace settings?

 

Check under your Info button, then select maintenance. I believe your first oil change should be around the 3500-3700 mark.

 

Yes, this is just a user alert and you set it at any mileage you want to. I believe you hit the settings button to popup a lot of options on the screen, then select scheduled maintenance.

what is it for synthetic oil? Meaning how many miles?

 

The only way to know for sure would be to send it in to blackstone for oil analysis. It costs $20. From owning a Maxima however, I can tell you that Amsoil is generally good for up to 17k with a filter change halfway through or possibly twice. I went 10k with Amsoil. Mobil 1 EP will also be good for at least 10k with a filter change at 5k. I'm uncertain of other syns like Penzoil Platinum, Redline and the German Castrol Syntec. Stay away from Royal Purple. While it's a great racing oil, it's shown time and again it's not good for extended drain intervals past 5k.
