Well I know this is a farely new model and all but have any of you fully messed with the navigation system / hard drive? Itd be nice if you could fully customize the navi screen like change the background wallpaper, the startup screen and so forth. Does anyone know if the previous G models were able to customize there navis?

I wait anxiously but with trepidation for the time when every single god thing everywhere will be standardized.

Microsoft Windows Auto anyone?

If cars were run on MS, there'd be more than just the software crashing.

but at least they would be fully customizable, upgradeable, and expandable. Whatever bs people unload on MS, at least it's versatile.

I would like to see CarPCs come as standard on cars in a few years..maybe not MS Windows precisely because it's complicated and too powerful for most people, but a full fledged mp3/video player/recorder would have been nice, along with WiFi browsing with an onscreen touchscreen keyboard 8-), option to switch out/upgrade the HDD as well as the OS, not to mention customize the colors..

This is the longest shot in the history of shots but I want to know, is it technically possible for Infiniti to build in customization options into a future upgrade of the OS through the CompactFlash interface?

I work in a college environment with MS based PC's and PDA's for the last 7 years, before that, I was a senior tech at a local computer vendor for 4 years. I stand by my original statement based on knowledge and experience.

Versatile yes, stable, maybe. But this is not a debate on OS's .

I think that someone from Symbian OS based PDA's should take up this project. It's not overly complicated and their OS is rock solid.

It by all means seems like it should be able to handle the small task of managing the cars electronics.

I like the idea of making the cars display and functions more to my liking, not some engineers idea of what I should like
