In the next week I will hit the 1200 mile break-in. I plan on changing the oil using dino oil. Am I wasting my time and $$ by changing the oil this early ?

 

I'd say so. These engines aren't as fragile as people make them out to be. This goes for most any new car.

 

3750 miles, why stray from Infiniti's recommendations?

 

hmmm, I just did my oil change and just had 1K on it. Santa Monica Infiniti has online coupons for an oil change for $20 plus car wash so why the hell not. not sure if I want to switch to synthetic on my 3750 miles tho.

 

Do you guys go strictly by miles? Or miles and/or time, depending on which one arrives first.

 

I go more by mileage, within reason. I did my first oil change at 1200 miles, $30 at the Nissan dealership was a small price to pay.

I've generally done an oil change every 3000 miles, except for once at 3200, and a recent road trip I went 3300 miles. I've done my other maintanence schedules more based on mileage too (except I did my 45K service at 42K since my warranty was about to expire, and I needed the seat worked on).

On my pickup, which I put about 4K a year on, I'll do an oil change after 6 months.

 

Yea I did mine two at 1K then 3K & now every 3K or 3 months.
