Portable GPS mounted in a 07+ G35? Any pics? Recommendations?

As good as the G35's NAV unit is,
I can't see spending $3k for the Premium and NAV packages to get it on my G35x.

I'm looking for pics of portable GPS units mounted in 2007+ G35's.

I'd also like any recommendations on GPS untis,
although I'm leaning towards the Garmin Nuvi 760.

Thank you.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Garmin units. I know the Garmin Streetpilot c330 sits nicely in the cupholder and functions well there. I have the OEM Nav but still like some of the features of my older Garmin portable so I bring it along also if I'm on a trip.
Sorry I don't have pics of it in my 07.

GPS wasn't available for my 01 IS300, so I got a Garmin Nuvi and mounted it with a Proclip. It looked really nice and I can recommend this route.

$3K? Who are you dealing with?

Go with the factory navigation. You'll be happy you did.

Is there a mount that would go near the vent left of the screen? Proclip mount is to low that I would have to take my eyes off the road longer if I have to look at the screen.

The only other clip proclip has for the 07+ G35 sedan is:

.. which is even lower. You could try offering feedback to them on that issue:

For my IS, they did have mounts in higher positions:

and

I got the low mount anyways:

From experience, I don't have to look at the screen on my nuvi very often. The voice prompts/directions work for the most part, so being low doesn't hurt. It's nice because it keeps the power adapter and cable all in that little compartment area, nicely compact.

Garmin's are awesome, just be sure you get a unit with Text To Speech so you don't even need to look at the screen most of the time.

Has anyone used a friction-bean-bag dash mount with success? I'm on the fringes of getting a G35 Sedan, and already have a Garmin 350 with the weighted bean-bag. Worked great in the wife's SUV, but am curious about the G.

With the exception of the C340. It's directions are horrible sometimes telling you to turn in the middle of or after the intersection. It's a known problem with this unit.

I have a Garmin Streetpilot C550 and love it. Garmins tend to give the best possible routes. Much better route calculations in comparison to the Zenrin systems in Infiniti/Nissan.

This is in my other car, but it (Garmin Nuvi 350) would work just fine in the G too:

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 that I use in the truck. I would get the navigation integrated though. I love it in my G.

Thanks, that is in California on US89 east bound from Monitor Pass down to Coleville/Lake Topaz in the Eastern Sierras. There's a beautiful viewpoint just up the road from where the picture was taken. It's about 8 miles west of the junction with hiway 395.

I use my treo650 with tomtom running on it. The Bluetooth GPS unit tucked away in the center console. My personal preference (over other standalone GPS units):

- its ur phone, ur gonna carry it with you.. all in one device.
- if someone sees a gps mount on ur car, theres a good probability that ur gps unit is tucked away in ur glove box when not in use. (ie, for me, its a lack of peace of mind..)
