Today is question day!! I have an 08 G35 and I want to use a regular key to lock and unlock the driver door and I want to leave this key in the garage.

Will I mess up my car if I use a regular key to ONLY lock and unlock the car?

I don't see how that would create a problem. That is what the regular key is made for (and locking the glovebox, i think) You can't even use that key to start the car, only the I-Key.

 

Just out of curiosity why do you only want to use the key?

Since there is an alarm system in the car, will opening the door without an intelligent key around start the alarm system.

As far as other people asking why, well I would like to "hide" a key in or around the car so that if I loose the key fob I will be able to leave with the car.

My next question will be: Will putting the Intelligent remote in a steel box prevent it from radiating and being used.
