What is the electronic speed limiter in the '08 G35 6MT set at? Also, I assume it's based on actual measurements from sensors and doesn't exactly match what the speedometer in the car reads?

This is for dyno purposes, so no need for any safe driving advice.

A car should be dyno'd in it's 1:1 gear for the most accurate reading. 5th gear is 1:1 for this car. This can hit the speed limiter in some cases I've heard though.

with the stock 3.692 final drive and my 245/40-19 G37 wheels, my top speed in 5th would be 161mph.

with the 4.083 final drive I'm installing and my 245/40-19 G37 wheels, my top speed in 5th would be 146mph.

I'm hoping that the 4.083 final drive would have the added benefit of allowing me to dyno in 5th gear all the way to redline.

That's unfortunate. Can this be adjusted using the Consult tool?

I'll probably just do my first pull in 5th gear and see what it does. I'll go back to the calculator and figure what my RPM would be at 130mph.

that would only get me to 6,700 rpm.

I've now heard that the speed limiter is 160mph though.

Is it different between G35's and 350Z's?

Are you sure?

I've hit 145mph before without any problem...

I'm fairly certain I've crossed 130mph too, but I didn't have my eyes on the speedo at the time.

It would make sense if the G35 and 350z both had the same limiter at 160mph.

There could also be alot of error in the speedo at that speed. Was it indicated on the cluster or via GPS?

This has been disscused ALOT in the recent past... Most G35 X's only go 130 mph evenwith v-rated tires, 6 spd cars seem to go to around 150 plus! and even the 08 G35xs with a so called "sport package" prolly only goes 130..... truely the > least liked feature of the car < for me....

Yeah, this is a real problem. Here in the DC area, if you can only do 130 mph, people start passing you in the right lane on the Beltway.

On a more serious note: While motoring around the Beltway at a pretty good clip the other day, I was passed by a nice-looking rice rocket. After he passed me, he dropped some gears and popped a huge wheelie, which he maintained for about 1/8 mile. All this in the middle of typical Beltway traffic, which, in case you Left Coasters don't know, is something like the 405 through LA.

The same can typically be said for the Toll Road.
