1st gen it was standard..... IDK about 2nd gen, but I'd be surprised if they dropped it.

It's often tucked up in the bumper... many don't even know they have it.

that's weird.
Gas cars need them to. When it's -40C (=-40F) over night, believe me, you'll wish you have a block heater. It's not good to TRY starting it at that temperature without one. Odds are it won't start nice, if at all, if it's been sitting for hours unless you had it plugged in.

Yes i'm canadian and i have it! But i never used it, i dont even know how long you're supposed to leave it pluged in.

mine does not. It was also not an available factory option. Probably could have gotten it as an aftermarket option, but I've lived in WI, MN, and ND for the last couple of decades and I have never needed a block heater, nor have my parents on our cars growing up in WI.

It doesn't really matter to much although longer than you need is just waisting electricity. Putting a timer on it is a good idea starting a few hours before you want to start up your engine. This should give the element enough time to warm up your coolant, oil and even speed up getting interior heat. It makes your car engine feel much better during those really cold starts
