What is this thing?

Did my ICC a week ago. Washed my car this week and noticed something ugly sticking out of my bumper below the license plate that I'm pretty sure wasn't there before. Can anyone tell me what this is?

that looks like an engine block heater connection. i'm pretty sure cars sold in the great white north have this option available to them.

take off the cap and it's a plug to warm up your car(engine) at cold start in the winter. it's made for people who live in the cold

i've never heard of other canadians having an engine block heater factory installed.... but if it is then its probably just not put back properly i doubt its supposed to be hanging there like that look around to see how its attached and see if you can re arrange it... and hes in vancouver doubt he would ever need a heater...

also when you say got your icc done u mean the bulletin fix?

Thanks for the response guys. Yes by ICC done I meant the TSB ITB07-028a, Cruise Control Surges When Going Downhill.

I havn't heard anyone who has an factory engine block heater around in the forums, and as jdanielsg pointed out it doesn't get that cold around here.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't there before, and they just didn't do a good job of putting it back. I can't rearrange it since they attached it onto the lower grill with a plastic strap.

Just wanted to make sure I havn't gone crazy. Going to dealership sometime next week or after to get the ICC refixed. It totally reports the wrong speed on my dashboard. Rather disappointed since they said they "tested the ICC and drove it around." If they did do that how did they miss that -_-. I'm cruising 100kph, I set ICC it shows up at 61kph. Cruise at 60-80 and it gives me 33-40ish. Ridiculous!

All Canadian model G35s come standard with a block heater.......at least the 07s did. Mine is located in the front right corner of the engine compartment.

Well I looked and sure enough, it's there! I can use this when I visit the in-laws in Thunderbay. When I'm home by G stays in the house.
You don't have to look under the hood. You can see it through the centre air dam in the front bumper under the lic plate.
I have one concern. I was able to pull it out, as if using it, because it doesn't seem to be clipped in as I would expect it to be. Is there a clip in behind there I should be looking for?

Are you serious? Winter is already OVER . I'm glad I get to learn something about the G every now and then but my seller didn't even bother to tell me this. No wonder I don't do service at that dealership anymore. First I ask about splash guards and they tell me I can buy plastic splash guards at canadian tire...

I went through my manual pretty thoroughly too, must have totally missed it.

*Just checked manual and it doesn't state all Gs are equipped with it. Total waste of cold winter start ups.

My understanding is that only Canadian model G35s come with a block heater as standard equipment. Unless you've specifically ordered a block heater for your G it won't have one.

Not so...
Yes gas starts easier, but when it's cold the oil gets heavy.
There are time when a cold car will barely crank over.
A block heater FTW in those conditions.

It's always been standard on CDN models.
