window tint questions

Hey guys. So i am about to pull the trigger on doing window tins for my G-sedan in a week or so. I want it dark, but dont want to get pulled over. What have you guys done for getting out of tix if you have gotten pulled over? I had a buddy who took pics of his car before he got tints, and when he got tickets he would goto courthouse and show them the pic, and they would drop the ticket...anyone know if this would work? also....would getting a prescription from an eye doctor saying you need the darker tint for eye protection, because you have a condition or something like that work? Just trying to not have to worry about getting tickets. i am also thinking about doing 15% all around except front windshield, with a carbon non-metalized film by suntek, or 3m...what kind of tint film would you guys recommend? suntek is cheaper, so thats a plus. Thanks in advance!

What state are you in? That'll determine how dark you can go without getting pulled over.

Unfortunately I can only get Llumar tint down here in Columbus, GA...I want 3M, but Llumar isn't bad and has a lifetime warranty - they do metallic or non-metallic too.

35% is not dark at all. i have 15% on my car and its awesome never gotten pulled over. if you want a little better go with 20% its still pretty dark and will make your car look good. but i like 15% the best. ive had it on 2 cars for 2 years or so and no problems yet. GL, are you planning on doing it your self? b/c i tried myself and its alot harder than you think it is, get it done by a shop . thats what i did.

I just got 3M 35% installed all around on Saturday. Got pulled over today for it No ticket though. Im in Jersey, where nothing is allowed on the front, although on my other car I had 35% all around and got pulled over only once in about a year. So hopefully today was just bad luck. As for the tint, I am told 3m is the best, but on the tint itself it has little "3m's" going across in a line on each window, which kinda annoyed me. Don't know why they do that.

i have 20% and I personally think its plenty dark, 15%, id have trouble seeing stuff at night. I already have to roll down my windows at night if im backing out of a driveway because i cant see **** with the 20% but during the day, i love it.

I say you should go 20% all around OR 35% front and 20% rear just to be on the safe side i guess ? cause my theory i would think that cops would want to atleast see the driver and the passanger in the front seats.. But you also gotta think what is the legal tint % in your state and if the cops around your area are very **** about dark a** tints.

Window tint....?

You didn't indicate where you live so you need to check your local laws
regarding tint. You do need to be aware that if you go with 5% or
anything close to being that dark you won't be able to see out of your car
when the sun goes down....kinda like living in a cave! I have 35% and
haven't been pulled over yet. As long as the cops can see in your car
most won't hassle you, but some will....it's just a fliping game we play!

thats not possible. if you wanted it dark 35% wont be enough, you'll be saying to yourself "i shoudlve went darker" 15 or 20% should satisfy most of it but 15/20 will look nice at night but not dark enough during the day. thats why i went with 5% all around. go big or go home D: . 15/20 is already having sight problems at night so might as go 5. to be able to see alright during at night i think 35% enough.

im from california like you...its legal to do the rears as dark as we want. It looks ok to me, I was going to do a 50% in the fronts but i decided not to. plus the legal limit for us is like 70% in the fronts and that looks likes a clear tint.

to remove these just a little rubbing alcohol on a rag and rub it over the 3m. if you read the warrenty they give you with the tint there should have been a small packet with a alcohol whip on it. its there so you know that it is real 3m tint.
