Hey guys, over the weekend i was driving around while it was raining out, i drove over a drainage dip in the road and it knocked the front right area pretty good. Sometimes while driving around at 35-45 mph i can hear a low rubbing sound comming from the front right area. im not sure what to do in this case. bring it to inifiti dealership? any help or information?

stick your head under there. see if you can see any thing that looks out of place or broken.

use the other front side of the car for comparisons if you don't know what you are looking at.

I say wheel bearing.

Test it.

Go on a curvy road, with obviously left curve turns and right curve turns.

When making a left curve turn, you put load on the right wheels. When you make a right curve turn, you put load on the left wheels.

If every time that you make a left turn, the humming becomes louder, then its your right hub assembly. When making a right turn, if the humming becomes louder, then its your left hub assembly. Also, when you put the car on a lift, go to the wheel with the suspect bad wheel-bearing and try and see if you can physically move the wheel back and forth. If it makes noises and the wheel rocks laterally, its most likely the wheel-bearing/hub assembly. Good luck sir.

Have you looked under there? Could be a plastic panel torn loose into the tire (sounds like from the description that you hit the body (i.e. scraped), vs. just impacted the tire, right?

+1 on that. My bearing was messed up and was replaced under warranty.

If you follow my test and its conclusive that its your wheel bearing....

I dont usually condone this, but try and play blonde & stupid and say you started to hear this humming out of nowhere. Thats as long as you dont have any visible physical damage. This is all in hopes to get it covered under warranty without a single penny from your pocket. Good luck.

Please let me know. I'm buying a coupe this week and its making a similar sound from the front left wheel. The owner is taking it into the dealer tomorrow morning to see what's going on. Hopefully it should be fixed under warranty before I pickup the car.

I can't wait!!! I'm getting a sick deal on an 05 IP coupe with OEM 19s and sport tuned suspension
