I am pondering whether or not to install a clear bra on my new G35. It's a leased car, so I am returning it in 36 months. I don't know if Nissan-Infiniti LTD is going to nickel and dime me to death when I return the car for little chips and scratches on the bumper. Anyone with experience on lease returns with these guys? Perhaps, $500 for a clear bra might be a good investment if I am going to get tagged for more than that during the return. What do y'all think?

If your lease is financed through the factory, you won't have a problem with normal wear and tear. It's the private leasing companies that will nickel and dime you - the factory wants you back as a customer.Originally Posted by Armanius Maximu

Only if you drive consistantly on a debris-ridden freeway. (91 for those of you local to me).
TONS Of chips are not normal wear and tear; SOME chips are.

I would totally recommend it, since l too have a leased car, and did not have the clear bra.... after 1.5 year with the car, i would say that was the biggest mistake that l made...
Well actually it also depends on how much hwy driving u do.

It would be a good idea to email someone @ Infiniti lease dept and find out, in writing, what they consider normal wear and tear. I have a few friends that lease and some are told if the scratch/dent or any other type of normal wear and tear items is smaller that the size of a quarter then that is okay. Whatever the answer is, print it out and keep it together with the rest of the lease paperwork. Also ask them what they think about adding the clear bra.

I've leased two Infiniti's and I've never had an issue with turning in my vehicle.
The inspector commented my vehicles were some of the cleanest he had seen. :-)
I think as long as you take care of your vehicle and don't drive through a lot of debris you will be fine. After all it is a lease - and you won't re-coop any of that $.

I agree with what the guys here are saying. Just stay away from the debris as best you can and don't tailgate. A lot of stuff flies up from cars in front of you and hits the front of your car without you even noticing right away. i stay as far away as I can from cars in front of me and after one nasty winter I have no chips...knock wood. Being a black car, any small chips will be much less noticable than say, on the ivory pearl which BTW is a very nice colour, but definately should be clear bra'wd. IMO
I ended up getting a 3M clear bra installed. For some reason, the freeways in Houston do have a lot of debris. Much more than in Dallas. I got the windows tinted too. G looking even nicer now!

i would recommend getting a clear bra regardless
but no one will say anything when you return the car because they can just peel it off
