Does anyone know for sure if Speedometer readings are taken from the Front or Rear wheels? I have been told it's the rears. I need to take that into account when buying new tires.

Go in a wet parking lot, take of vdc and spin the tires, if the speedometer moves then its the rear, if not, its the fronts haha

^^ I did that in the snow, the spedo is taken from the trany, so if u have a rwd car then its taken from the rear, if you have a FWD car, then its taken from the front. its like that on ALL cars.

Which one? The "trany" or the front or the rear?

Didn't he answer? You have RWD, so the tranny will show the speed of the rear wheels...?

Thanks Bro. I thought it was the rear but I never knew the transmission had anything to do with it. Makes sense.

It doesn't..
Speed pickup is from sensors on the rear stub axles after the rear differential.

Does this mean if you change to a different gear ratio, the speedo is still true?
