A/C noisy and grinding

Just wanted to check with you guys, I feel like my A/C is really loud, it sort of sounds like itd grinding and has a lot of electric motor noise. I can also feel a little bit of vibration. I hear it most when idling, sometimes to the point where I have to shut it off cuz it just sounds so aweful. Its about twice as loud as the car in idle with AC off. It still blows ice cold air and gets cold pretty fast. Just wondering if this is normal to G's and something I have to deal with, or if its worth noting to the dealer.

Thanks!

Mine doesn't do that - if it makes so much noise that it makes you shut it off, something's wrong. Dealer.

I also find the a/c to be louder than normal... Sorts whiney while accelerating from a stop. I hate the sound of it too.

take her to the dealer. my A/C is squeaking a little, and dealer quoted me $1200 for replacing A/C compressor+clutch, saying it's going to go out some time soon. when i asked how soon, he said that actually compressors can work for a long time in this condition. needless to say, i declined the fix.

Mine is making this whining noise as well, started noticing it more and more. if I turn off AC the whole car gets quieter inside and out. I plan on taking it in for service when my next oil change is due.

I'm sure glad I saw this thread. I just got my 2008 G35x last week (has about 500 miles on it so far) and I noticed this issue already, but I thought it might be normal -- although I didn't remember this much noise when I test drove the car.

As it happens, my "service engine soon" light wouldn't turn off, so I took the car to the dealer this morning. Now, I just called the dealer and told them to check out this issue as well.

I'll report back if they find anything interesting.

mine sounds a bit loud ever since the day i got it. It doesn't sound too bad, just a bit loud, especially when you first turn it on. Gotta check with the dealer on my next service.

The A/C compressor on my 94 SHO was the last straw and it went bye-bye before I had to replace it. When that thing went, the car sounded gawd-aweful and they wanted $2,500 to replace it, since that engine compartment was 15 lbs of crap in a 5lb bag. That car almost bankrupted me with all it's stupid repairs.... Ford FTL!

I certainly hope this isn't a compressor issue this early in the car's life. I've noticed that mine gets louder on hotter days.... almost like it's working harder or something.
