I finally took the car in. I was hoping I could drive the car in with it grinding and duplicate the noise for the service rep right there. Low and behold it wasn't making the noise when I showed up, but the tech was able to hear it when he tested it. They replaced the compressor and it has been significantly quieter after the repair but there is still some noise. Hopefully it will not go back to before the new compressor.

My GF thought I was being snobby, but in all honesty, it made the idle sound like total crap, and even the new compressor is louder than any of my past cars.

thought i might add my car too... i have a 2003 g35 sedan with about 60k miles on it and the a/c is making an awful noise. i haven't checked it or anything and im not a mechanic but it sounds like something rubbing or scrapping. i turn it off because since i have no clue what it is i dont want to make it worse... if anyone has any idea whats going on as well as how much $$ im looking to be spending, it would be greatly appreciated.

I took my car in for service and the manager said that my compressor is unusually loud. After they replaced it, the sound decreased substantially.

My 2003 G35 sedan compressor is very loud, I ride with it off most of the time since its getting cold. I noticed that when I cut the car off their is a loud grinding noise coming from the vehicle could that be compressor related. Has anyone experienced this.

^ This happens on the 2nd gen, but you guys may want to check your specific gen forum. It could be the same issue, it could be different.

If you take it to the dealership and they tell you "they can't replicate it", get in your car and stay their till you can replicate it and show them. I heard the AC grinding noise and ticking noise almost all the time while driving, and took my car in 4 times to the dealership. They told me every time that everything looked fine. 5 months after my warranty ended the AC compressor no longer works and I'm stuck with hot air and a $1300 estimate to fix it. Scum bags.

I hear the noise when I'm run the A/C and I cut the car off with the compressor still run. If I cut the car off with the A/C not running I don't hear the noise

6800 rpms got me... after 126000 miles and mine burned. More like seized and burned. Car jerked 3 times (belt caused all that jerking after clutch locked up) and let out a mechanical burning smell and a little smoke. Dagnabbit. Gonna be expensive. Too bad there is no room or id DIY. 2007 g35s sedan
