How can anyone really know that the manual specifies the optimum oil change interval?

3750?

Everyone always says....."oh yeah...these manuals are written by the engineers, so it must be correct."

Really?
Who do these engineers work for?
Who do the writers of the manuals work for?
And where do the majority of car owners that truly care about their vehicles go for oil changes?

Seems like following the recommended interval would be good for both the environment and your wallet no matter how you look at it.
Yes, changing oil less frequently helps both. I was jus noting that people care more about it helping their wallets than the environment.

Interesting how many conspiracy theorists there are here.

It's all a scam, they're trying to get you to SAVE MONEY and change your oil less!

I'm still not sure who the winner is in this theory though......
