synthetic at 6200k miles?
I changed the oil the first time at 2800 cause i was about to take a road trip. Im not at 6200 miles and was wondering if this change should be fine to switch to synthetic. I drive with a mixture of baby'ing it and also getting on it and winding through the entire rpm range a good bit. Should i just stick with the dino oil? Every car ive ever had has ran better, idled smoother, better mileage and just ran better overall with synthetic so i was hoping for the same with this car.

But, I don't think you'll be able to last 6,200,000 miles like your title states.

Ya know, as i was typing that i thought it just didnt look right lol.
Is 6200 miles the recommended point to change to synthetic? It's just slicker so it'll slow or stop the breakin process for the engine. In my experience, my first wrx was switched to synthetic on the first oil change at 1500 miles. It always went through a quart of oil every 3k miles. On my next wrx I didn't change over until about 5k miles and it didn't go through any oil.
Can't really say with confidence that the oil had everything to do with it but it might have. If the engine didn't get a chance to fully break in maybe the rings were not seated well or the valve seals didn't seat right either?

you can switch to synthetic at 2k, i talked to a tuner at intense and he said it was fine. i will change over to synthetic this weekend, i just hit 4k

I'm right under 15k miles and switched to mobile 1 synthetic last week... I've used it in ALL of my cars in the past with out any problems... But with the G i'll probably change it every 5-6k miles... In my TL, i only changed it once every 10k miles and that thing ran like a tank

I went ahead and put the full synthetic in. Immidietaly noticed less engine noise at idle. Idle is a bit smoother, though its hard to tell since most engines idle better with fresh oil. But the engine def sounds smoother. Revs seem a little smoother and the car feels much smoother responsive with the synthetic.
Synthetic Oil....when?
I get soooooo tired of seeing members opinions about when to change to
synthetic oil! Here's two examples, my '92 300ZX was switched to Mobil 1
at 1K miles....when it was sold it had 125K miles on the clock and never used
one drop of oil between changes. (and still runs very well today) With my
G35 I switched at 1K mile too with 21K on the clock I'm currently using Red Line 10W/30 with no ill effects.
Red Line recommends changing to there synthetic at 3K not before....the
way it's formulated is substantially better than other synthetic on the market.

There's obviously a LOT of opinions out there about oil.
This is what I know: Synthetic is better than Dino and lasts longer with less wear on your engine.
When to change, how to switch, how much engine wear, what difference does it really make....... I honestly don't know. Ask 10 people, you'll get 10 different answers.
I've only even heard of 1 person ever blowing up a motor from something to do wtih oil changes. He bought a Dodge Ram new, and didn't change the oil for 30k miles.
Other than that.......You probably have nothing to worry about. 99% of us will never own these cars long enough to experience a difference in engine longevity.
But, I use full synthetic. Because it's better.
