nissan smart key for infiniti smart key

has any one tried to get the dealer to program the nissan smart key to there G?

im looking to add a spare key, and the nissan one is half the price as the infiniti one on ebay. looks like the same key, also the numbers on the keys match up closely.

any ideas, comments?

I actually have a Nissan Smart Key currently programmed to work with my G as a spare.

They might say it won't work but it does.

i don't suppose that we can program it to work with a new key..

i don't feel like blowing $60 for some thing that i can do, and they just won't tell me how to do it

well what i have heard is that, if u loose one key, u can't reprogram any new ones because you need all existing keys to reprogram (so you have to get a new ECU $$$$$$$$). i have also heard that the car can have up to 5 keys at once. so i was going to get 3 extra keys programed at once, so i have a buffer of 4 keys

i loose keys a lot...

There is no way we can do this....this need to go thru the dealer..I remember my old IKey fobs were recalled a while back..and the dealer wanted to get both of them before they swap with the new ones... The system need to be reprogrammed to recognize all at the same time I believe ...something like that....

Nissan/Infiniti I-Keys are the same. Just the logos are different on the outside. You can just exchange shells with a Nissan owner.

I might have a few Nissan shells around those that are local that want to exchange them.
