Dyno Run: Stillen and JWT

Went down to MD Automotive, to do my dyno runs... Mark (owner) and his crew was awesome! Pricing is very good. If you need any dyno runs I would recommend his shop!

After much debate, I decided to dyno my car. I have Fast Intentions HFC and catback that is on for all runs. I did 3 runs with stock intake, 3 runs with Stillen, 3 runs with JWT. I did this with SAE smoothing 5 on a dynojet.

I am going to drive the with the JWT to see how it feels. But the runs I did showed the following:

Stillen had the middle hp, best sounds, least hp.
JWT had the middle hp, more subtle sound, and least torque.
Stock had the most hp, normal sound, most torque

Let me know if you are interested in any of the 9 runs...

Interesting.
Maybe I'll scrap my plans for the JWT.
One thing I refuse to lose is torque.

ya... I'm not sure... JWT had one great run.. look at the dyno of all off the runs I did. I was going to drive on it and see..... all the ripping on stillen... might be wrong

It just goes to show that Infiniti really did their homework with this new gen.
Intakes have never been known for huge numbers but have always added a little something. This is one of the first times I'm seen it robbing performance.

Let me know what you think once driving on it for a while.
I'm also curious on how MPG is doing with this installed as well.
Its supposed to improve MPG slightly, once you get past mashing the gas to hear the sweet sound.

one thought is did you allow the system to re-learn itself after install...you will not see immediate improvements after the install....the ECU would have to be re-learned for the more flow of the car with teh intake and exhaust....

Relearn shouldn't make much of a difference at full throttle.

Either the intake flows better and makes more power, or it doesn't.

Obviously with all the dyno's we've seen, stock is best. This isn't the first guy to lose power with an intake. Any other car that DOES gain power with an intake shows the gains instantly on the dyno. And every computer controlled car learns fuel trims.

2 hours i think? Mark, the owner is an AWESOME guy. If you need dyno runs let him know I sent you... we just left the car on the dyno and i changed out intakes over every 3 runs. Stock first, then stillen, then JWT

what's up with that purple run on the JWT, why the inconsistency with it? Also, why the one page the one run of each? You used the highest stock graph, highest Stillen graph and the middle JWT graph. Just a little confusing. And what's with the spikes, they're showing up in both charts.

Did you get the car up and running pretty warm and run a bunch of test runs to get consistency then start the testing? I'm not sure 3 runs on each is enough. They should've all been ran until they provided consistent results back to back being sure the car had time to adjust for the differences.

The only way to get true un-biased results is to reset the ECU after each intake change. The car will learn the characteristics of the intake and if you make a sudden change like that it can throw off the results.

Hey Kul, really appreciate to see you taking the time and money to do these runs and show it to the community, however i will have to agree with ttrank in saying you should have atleast dissconnected the battery between each intake change to achieve more consistant results. You will be suprised by the difference it makes to the dyno once the ecu learns a bit.

You want all 3 runs of one mod to be AROUND the same point while yours on one intake shows difference of 20hp(stillen 275->255->274) to 18tq (jwt 258->248-244)difference that does not do justice with the mods.

Just my $0.02...

Thanks but I have access to a Mustang AWD dyno, a Dynojet, and a Dynapack.
