Question Intelligent Key battery and memory

I'm getting the warning message that my I-key battery is low and needs replacement. I'm worried that by doing so, it will "forget" my seat/mirror settings. Can anyone validate if this is an issue (albeit, extremely tiny issue)? I know, I know, it's probably in the manual, but I'm lazy like everyone else.

The settings are stored in the BCM, not the fob.
Even if the settings were stored in the fob it's not like you have a choice, if you don't change the battery out it will eventually be dead, with the same result.

What's the warning you get when the I-key battery is about to die?

I just replaced the battery in my M key fobs right before I returned it for my new G lease. (Murphy's law timing!).

It was SUPER easy and it does not change any of the memory settings. Just be careful when you start to pry it apart. The plastic can be pretty brittle on the top and it's easy to take off a small chunk if you don't go easy.

But again - very simple process. I just did both at the same time since I got a 2 pack of batteries for pretty cheap.

I'm not sure about the G but on the FX which I had before....whenever you start the car the I-Key sign on the dash will be lit for about 30 sec or so.....this means that that I-Key battery is low...I did replace mine on the FX and the sign went off .... I presume the same here

+1 Your settings are safe. As someone else said, just take the metal key out of the iKey, and pry it apart. I usually use a sharp knife.

The memory is stored in the car, not in the fob.
Also, if you are that concerned, make sure your seat, wheel, mirrors and radio are all set as you wish and then replace the battery without making changes.
Worse case scenario, you hit the memory button in the car again to set everything... but it's not going to be an issue.
