Removing Top Speed Limiter

Does anyone know what is required to remove the electronic nanny so that I can get full top speed from my '08X? The car pulls hard right up to an indicated 130mph, then simply let's off and stays there regardless of what I do with the pedal. I know that non-restricted cars will run 155+, and I travel to areas where I can indulge relatively safely.

I know the tires will need to be replaced with some with the proper speed rating, and I don't need a lecture about risk, legality, etc. please. I'm interested in whether there is an electronic part replacement anyone knows of which allows the X to run unrestricted, while maintaining the other functionality of the AWD system.

Thanks in advance.

Well, you and i are in the same boat!!! this is the only thing i don't like about my car,,( same as yours) My car will NOT go over 130 mph, It sounds like the only places that can help us is Technosquare in Cal. allthough they might not have broken the code on us "X" drivers,, however, Uprev.com I think in Austin tx. It sounds like they can do it.... however i have NOT contacted them yet..... Whats really frustrating is some of the AWD cars will go 140 145 or more!!!! and ours won't I have been to busy to mess with this until more in the late fall or winter,, I you contact Uprev. let me know what they say..... and of course how much!!! good luck!! regards....

Or, wait for Technosquare to get a flash put together for the X.
I've hit 145 and it had more to give. I've been there and don't see the need to do it again, but I'd love for the flash to give me more HP at the wheel.

+1 gone 140mhp not in my X ( EVO8) and see no reason to ever do it again that fast is pain out nuts. Unless your on a closed course.. Myself can't wait for the TS flash but like most of us we are looking ofr tuners to dyno tune it also..

In Texas there is a need for it. Especially when you have events like Texas 1 mile, etc. 160 mph speed limiter got in my way, and I an working with UPREV with the HR to get it removed and obviously the other stuff to go with it.

UPREV, they can remove it.

you are right, you better make sure your tires are up for it. What's the speed rating on them?

Hey, here's an option for you. Why not rent a sportscar-like car from Enterprise-Rent-A-Car, get the insurance, and speed off into the sun set. Would save yourself the trouble of ripping your car apart to remove the limiter.

Not really an option at all, I didn't know they even did that, ( rent fast cars) So it wouldn't be mine, and i sure wouldn't trust any vehicle from any rent a place, for that kind of running.....
