Question xenon lifespan and replacement cost

Am I the only one who's afraid to use my headlights? I'm worried about the "frequent on/off operation" so I don't use the auto setting, and I rarely turn on the headlights inside a parking garage.

So.... how long can I expect the bulbs to last under normal use? (not on auto setting)

When they do burn out, what can I expect to pay the dealer to replace them? Is it an easy DIY job if I buy my own bulbs? Do the bulbs need to be replaced in pairs?

I searched and found a lot of stuff about aftermarket, but I'm happy with OEM setup so far.

You can adjust the sensitivity for the auto headlights. I leave mine on auto all the time and they only turn on when its actually dark or im in a parking garage. Xenons can last longer than your car. I wouldnt worry about them going out. It can happen as they are an electrical item, but even if they do you can get oem replacements on ebay for less than $100 a pair.

I had Xenons in my Maxima, and left the lights on Auto all the time. It's a 2003, and the Xenons are still fine (my sis-in-law bought it).

I've read in the past that you could expect your xenons to last 10 years or longer. I traded in my 6 year old 03 G35 (for a 08 G35x) a little over a month ago with perfectly working original xenons and I always used Auto.

This is definitely not something to worry about.

Thanks... I just found that in the menu and adjusted it. My apt has a small parking garage, so that's a lot of unnecessary on/off to come and go each day, but I guess I shouldn't worry about it.

I park my car in my garage and every day when I leave for work the headlights turn on with the car and then turn back off a few seconds later when I pull out of my garage. I did this for 5 of the 6 years I owned my old 03 G35 before trading it in. Sure, anything can fail. But I don't believe this is an item to be worried about.

For a (very) short duration, yes. If they're defective, they'll already be broken by the time you buy your car. Xenon lights should last a very long time, as Nissan/Infiniti uses a high quality ballast.

it'll cost you to replace them though... not talking about the cost of the bulb but the cost at the dealers to replace em for ya... 1-2 hrs work.. which is 100-200 bucks!! ACK!

so good thing its good quality xenon lights!!!

Im in the process of replacing my fog lights right now.. and out of curiosity I phoned the dealer and asked them how much it will cost for them to install it.. and thats what I got. Hence... im doing it myself.
