I change my oil every 3750-4500 miles.
They say synthetic oil (depending on your driving habits/conditions) can last for much longer than that, which may be true, but the oil filter on these cars are awfully tiny. I know its only a 3.5L engine but Jesus...it looks like it belongs on a lawn mower.
Its funny how so many people are so paranoid about these things like its some sorta fragile piece of equipment. You all do realize these engines are beaten pretty hard in testing before they're installed in the car?
I've always thought "break in" procedures were a bit weird too. It seems like every manufacturer has a different break in method. Hell, the first thing they do when they test an assembled car is redline it.
I never really "broke in" my car. Well, unless you consider taking it down a windy road the second I bought it as "breaking in".
Modern engines that are built well can take a beating...its what they were made for.

Changed mine w/dino oil at 1000 mi.
changed w/dino oil again at 3750.
Then sythetic since 7500. Castrol Syntec 0W30 European spec. Change every 7500 miles whether she needs it or not. Mobil 1 M108 filter.
38k miles now, no oil use between changes (nor would I expect any at this mileage) or other detectable issues.
