Intelligence Key- battery
I've been having my G for roughly 14 months also, only using 1 key, and haven't have to replace my key's battery yet. Though i did pick up a 2 pack of CR2032 batteries at work yesterday to replace in my mom's 8 year old chevy remote... The 2 pack cost like 6.09 with my employee discount at CVS, so probably 7 bucks to everyone else... Probably even cheaper at walmart
One word of caution - just double check your battery. I think I remember seeing some people needing a CR2025 battery and others needing a CR2032. I'm not even sure what the difference is but if they have different numbers there is probably something to it.
I would just check your existing battery before buying one to be sure. I can't remember if the owner's manual has anything about that.
Definitely DIY and the settings for seat memory position, etc are stored with the car NOT the key fob so there is no programming that needs to be done. I'm not very handy and I did the replacement on my old fob x2 in about 30 seconds.

Remotes do not need reprogramming when battery is changed. It is a DIY task.

I realize this is a month old thread but didn't feel like starting a new one just to add that my car (and remote) is only about 6 months old and I'm getting the warning light. So much for 1.5 to 2 years....
ok well wow this just happend to me have the car 1.5 yrs. and yes i use my fob, thats what its there for.
but you guys are scareing me....dealer asking for $$
12 bucks and then supposively program fee. wow that all should be under warranty as far as i know most companies would take care of the batteries with no problem. its just common sense that you can go to walmart get a battery for a couple bucks. i dont know maybe its just me but that should be covered.

Hi guys, quick question since the husband is away for the weekend with his buddies...
My light came on too after less than a year. I can't tell from looking at the warning graphic, though, -- is the black area what I have left, or the red area on the battery diagram....
The more I look at this stupid thing, the more I'm second guessing myself...
Really appreciate any help for my pathetic question!
Thanks,
go6car

My battery light came on the other day too after 1 year. I replaced the battery with one I got at CVS, but the low battery light is still on in the car when I start it up. Do I need to do anything to get the warning light to go off since I know the battery is fine now.

Infiniti of Englewood - that's disappointing. I always thought they were a decent dealer around here considering Ramsey is absolutely horrendous.

I digress - so basically, if the icon shows up, your battery is low. Don't worry though - if it just came up you still have plenty of time until it completely dies.
Either way, if you need to get in the car and your fob dies, just pull the release on the back, yank out the valet key and open your car door with that. Then slide the fob into the slot on the bottom of the dash by the steering wheel and, even with a dead battery (in the fob), you can still start the car this way.
Hope that helps!

THANK YOU! And, yes all this did help!
I still don't know how to work half the stuff on this awesome car, LOL! (I still haven't even used the 6 CD player in the trunk - pathetic, I know!)
I used my spare key just in case yesterday (didn't want to get stuck at work!). I'm venturing out this weekend to change the freakin battery in my original one and be done with it! Good to know that the indicator likely doesn't acutally decrease too.
And, now I at least know how to start the car if the battery did completely crap out - thanks for that! I know all this is in the manual, but I truly don't remember all the details...
You guys rock!
