Intelligence Key- battery

hey guys..new to the forum...

i got the car on January 08. its be about 9 month...

yesterday i got alert when i start the car...saying my intelli key battery is low.

i call up the dealer and told...$12 for the battery..+$60 for the re-programing if needed.

anyone know..when i replace the battery..does it need to program again?

also...does battery runs out this fast?(9 month period)

any comments would help..thanks

I replaced my battery before the light came on. No issue here. 60 for reprogramming sounds like BS to me. You can probably even buy the battery for way less. Replacing it is simple. I've got my battery from my workplace for free.

I just got mine done this weekened at the dealer. It took him 2 min. I don't beleive any reprogramming needed. They didn't charge me anything to get it done.

No, no needed any reprogramming. That is just pure B.S. from your dealer. Even if it was needed it should of been under warranty.

Where is that dealer? So others can avoid taking there car there.

+1 Have replaced my battery twice, have never had to reprogram the remote (or the memory seats, etc.)

The more often you use the buttons, the faster the battery dies. I've had my original battery in my daily driver's remote since 12/06 (I never use the I-Key buttons).

Remotes do not need reprogramming when battery is changed. It is a DIY task.

The battery part number is CR 2032 available anywhere.

I'm actually giving them away right now with I-Key cover purchases.

I guess I should be happy that my dealer didn't even charge me for the battery. Glad you got it all worked out.
