New G35xS Convert From Pony Cars-Available Mods
Hello all, we just picked up a new 2008 Blue Slate G35xS instead of going with another Mustang or paying $2-$3000 over MSRP for a Challenger R/T (maybe that'll be a Chevy Challenger soon). I've been picking thru this forum for a few weeks now and I'm liking the Stillen Gen 2 Long Tube Intake and the Stillen Hi-Flow Exhaust, possibly with the "off road" cats too. The one thing that's high on my list is but I haven't found much info on is what springs will work with the AWD x - at Stillen's site both the Eibachs and H&Rs are specifically not for the AWD models. I see Eibach in some x owners sigs, but which ones and what had to be done for caster/camber settings, shocks, etc?
Also, I was surprised to find out (esp. coming from the pony car world) when I approached my dealer's head tech that ANY mods to the G35 will void my warranty for that part of the car, unless it's Nismo parts. I grabbed the Nismo catalog but it's all for Nissan rides. Should I be looking for Nismo parts for Skylines or what? I'm digging the Nismo A34 wheels in silver, but I have to factor in any suspension mods, etc.
Any info on suspension mods that will work on an '08 G35xS would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,

Your dealer's head tech is full of crap. You can mod to your hearts content. The warranty will only be voided if there was a malfunction due to the aftermarket part.
For example, if you install Eibach springs and your shocks blow out at 6000 miles, they would deny warranty on the shocks. However, if your nav system goes out or your engine suffers catastrophic failure, they are prohibited by law from voiding your warranty simply b/c you have aftermarket springs on your car.
Of course, if you have an aftermarket intake and your engine blows up, they may have some grounds to deny your warranty claim on your engine if the intake caused the engine to blow up.

As I said any mod would void the warranty on that part of the car - it's just funny to be told that changing wheels voids the warranty on the wheel bearings and such coming from a world where new Mustangs are sold brand new with full warranty with CAI, exhaust, shifter and suspension from Ford Racing already installed. That's also why I asked about Nismo parts for the G35. I did see a G37 coupe at one dealer with Stillen intake, aftermarket wheels and tint for sale brand new, so maybe another dealership would be more into my mods.
I was hoping to get some detailed info from x owners like G35xQX1 who are lowered with Eibachs what's up with the shocks, camber kits, tire wear and any AWD specific stuff, as I didn't find many x owners in the sticky in the Suspension and Brakes section.

Its all about the dealership, as for example Riverside is pretty cool with mods and actually installs stillen intakes and exhausts at the dealership for customers... i so wish i lived near them...

My dealer also installs Stillen parts, although I'd never go that route.
Do yourself a favor and really read the info found throughout the forum. The Stillen intake is sound only and is proven to actually be a loss of low end torque. Nothing performs as well as the stock system... these aftermarkets just sound better.
And before you go with the Stillen exhaust, take a look at the Fast Intentions system. It's superior in quality and performance and in my opinion, sound as well.
