New XM and Sirius Channel lineups as of 11/12/08
Yeah - I'd rather send letters that discuss our disappointment with the sound quality. Station selections, etc. are open to much interpretation - crappy sound quality is not.
I started another thread about the poor sound quality on XM and thought it might just be me but a previous poster here said that the quality has declined since the new channels/lineup were put into place. Is that correct?
One shareholder's battle against the board is typically someone who is trying to build back up their shares, then either dump them or try to take control of the board. I'm not really in favor of that. Especially since the board has to focus on the massive debt load that they must repay pretty darn soon.
Since I don't know all of the details, I won't say whether I agree or disagree with this shareholder but I'm not ready to write a letter in support if I don't know all of the facts.
However, I do know that I will write a letter in a heartbeat to express my disappointment with the sound quality. A few hundred shareholders is a significant concern for the board. Millions of subscribers . . . well I think that might be more of an issue for the majority of shareholders!
On the other hand, I may just not buy the subscription when my trial is over. That silent protest will surely be blamed on the economy (which it should not as I would gladly pay for the service if I felt it was worth it!). But I don't know if I want to waste my time on a letter.
My recommendation to anyone thinking of penning a letter: Write about the poor sound quality. Don't dilute the important message with someone else's agenda (wait - don't I have an agenda too
)
If we stay focused on the poor sound quality and make the point with our wallets then XM will either improve or wither and die. I'd rather see the improvement as I see a lot of value in XM, I just don't want to pay for it if the main value (sound quality) isn't up to par.
Again, just my $.02!!

XM in the G is fine (what little I get to use it), it's fine off of DirectTV, but Sirius inmy Dodge truck sounds like an answering machine. Sirius 74 is now on both sats, it sounds fine on my XM in the G, but in the truck, it sounds like crap.
Very odd. I just tuned it in on my home theater system ( Sirius Sportster 5) and it sounds good. I'll check it out in my G later today. What type of receiver is in your Dodge (factory or aftermarket)?

There are plenty of ways of doing it, but I like the Resco interface.

I used to have Sirius a while ago and really enjoyed it largely because of a channel called Maxim radio. For those that aren't familiar with it, it basically like Maxim magazine but in radio form. Very entertaining. When I got the G, only had XM so I miss it. After looking at this current channel line up, I noticed Maxim is no longer listed. Did I miss something? Can someone comment if they know what happened?
The XM and Sirius lineups are not identical, so each still has some unique stations. However that station looks like it got bumped from Sirius too. It was replaced by Sirius XM Stars Too on channel 108.
