Correct. My delay is off, so when I shut the door, the lights turn off. Reopening the door, the lights turn back on.
Strange thing is that if I close and open it again, the lights stay off.

Hmm... I get this time to time, but it was always when i was changing lightbulbs or something so i'll be playing around with the light switches, only happens when i turn the car off wait until the lights turn off
then unlock the door turn the car lights from Auto to On, then close the door and lock, when i come back sometimes the lights turns on when i unlock, sometimes.

OK...so I'm a bit confused on this subject. I hardly use the key FOB at all and only use the button on the door. My light is set for AUTO. Regardless of night or day, when I press the button on the door, only my turn signals flash. Is that what everyone is talking about?

Even with the lights set for AUTO and it's night time, when I press the button on the door, my main headlights never turned on until I actually start the engine. In my 05 G35 Coupe this was not the case. As long as my lights were set for AUTO, I would then press the unlock on the key FOB and the lights would come on to illuminate the path...but this is not the case with my 08 G35 Sedan =(

I think people are talking about the headlights turning on when they unlock the car, I want it to do that, My dads lexus is even cooler, because it's also keyless entry, when you get close enough the lights slowly fade in, wish i could get my G to do that.

When I press the button on my door to unlock the car sometimes at night my headlights would turn on. I cannot seem to duplicate it. It seems to just happen.

someone's gotta figure this one out. i've never had it happen to me. i always have it on auto and have not changed any light settings after getting from the dealership. i would like to know how to purposely manipulate this feature.

Hi there,

I think this happens when you switch between Auto-OFF-Auto after Stopping the engin, and the way it works as following:... just tested.

Should be in DARK AREA.

A. Normal Case:
1) Lights on Auto (lights are ON).
2) Stop engine OR change ignition from Auto to OFF. (lights stay ON)
3) Open, then Close the Door. (lights will go OFF)

B. Unusual Case 1:
1) Lights on Auto. (light are ON)
2) Stop engine OR change Ignition from ON to OFF. (Lights stay ON)
3) Turn Lights to OFF (manually)
4) Turn lights to ON (will not go ON because the engine (ignition) is OFF)
5) Open the Door (lights WILL TURN ON)!!!!

C. Unusual Case 2:
1) Lights on Auto. (light are ON)
2) Stop engine OR change Ignition from ON to OFF. (Lights stay ON)
3) Open Door (light stays ON)
4) Turn Lights to OFF (manually)
5) Turn lights to ON (will not go ON because the engine (ignition) is OFF)
6) Close the Door (lights stay OFF)
7) lock/unlock OR don't.
8) Open the Door (lights WILL TURN ON)!!!!

please test and confirm.

Never had that hapen. G35NOW has a very good point. Check the settings for auto-lights timeframe. They can be adjusted for time on levels.
