Seat temperatures
I didn't think my seat heaters were working properly so I made some measurements. They range from 64 to 98 degrees F. Does anyone know exactly what "normal" is for seat heaters? I found the TSB on this but it doesn't give any figures.
Mine are the same. THe seat heaters in the G35 are weak. Tehy take a long time to warm up ... like 10 minutes and then they don't get all that warm at all. Especially when I compare them to my BMW and Saab. Those heat up within 1 minute and I have to turn them down to stage 1 after two minutes or they get too hot for me.
My VIN falls within the numbers on the TSB so I'm taking it to the dealer for the replacement harness. You're right though...my seats take forever to heat up too, unlike my '03 G35 which worked perfectly. Something is definitely wrong. I was just wondering if anyone else has measured the temps. I wanted to know what normal is to check after the wiring harness is replaced.
The wiring harnesses were replaced as per the TSB. The heaters are operating much better now. Before I couldn't really tell the difference between Hi and Lo. Now I absolutely can. They still take longer to warm up than my '03 G35 did but are much improved. The service rep says that is because the seats in the newer models have thicker cushioning i.e., the heating elements are deeper in the upholstery than the earlier models.
^Go to infinitihelp and check if your car falls under that vin number category though i think its only for the new sedans but could be wrong, pretty much the TSB installs a new wiring harness that allows for high to work better than the low setting.
After the TSB my seats are just as i wanted them to be granted they take a bit longer than my TL but once they heat up i have to turn it off or back to low, so i have no issue with the temps and rater with warmup time which is still a respectable 3mins 49secs(Mesured after TSB)
