I say simply follow what the manual says. I change my oil every 7500 with regular oil with 95% highway (non rush hour) driving. The only caveat is that I have the oil changed when the car is new at 3750 and then again at 7500. But after that it's every 7500. I did this with my 2003 G35 and it had 102,000 on it when I traded it in for my 08 G35x. No problems at all and it ran as good as the day I drove it off the lot 6 years earlier.

 

if you drive your car hard for 3,000 miles, wouldn't you need an oil change sooner? I usually drive my car hard so i do an oil change every 2 months of so depending on the color of my oil, maybe even sooner.

It's such a PITA to check my oil.... it would take me a good 5 minutes to correctly put the stick back in. >_<
