What is the metal mesh thing? Can i just cut it off?
Hey guys,
As you all know I got HFCs and there is this annoying hissing sound, and so car my quest to figure out what it is has lead me to this conclusion, disclaimer - my theory is not proven yet. Seems like it's this thing making the sound
the metal mesh ball thing
Seems like everyone with Cat backs don't have the hissing problem, and after looking at all the cat backs etc available, none of them have this ball thing.
does anyone know what it's for? can i just cut it out? What happens and is it okay to castrate my car's metal mesh ***** ?
Thanks in advance!
Video, you can hear it when accelerating and decelerating.....

Okay I found out what these things do
"Stainless Steel Flex-Joints minimize chances of cracked manifolds or headers. Flex joints isolate vibration and save exhaust parts and gaskets by allowing movement in all direction"
So it might be better to keep them on, but it seems like FI and stuff don't have them.
I'm guessing this thing is making the sound because i was watching the flex joint with my friend pressing the gas, and the flex joint moves like crazy, wacking the heat shields and causing the y pipe to shake....
