Airbag light flashing

My airbag light is flashing in the instrument cluster, and I can't seem to reset it. I installed paddle shifters about 3 weeks ago, and at first the VDC light wouldn't go off, so I ended up bringing it to the dealership for a reset. My car seemed to be ok up until about a few days ago when the airbag light started flashing. I ended bringing in my car to the dealership again, and they told me that I had a bad spiral cable (the assembly that has the airbag wires on it and you have to align at 12 O'clock). The dealership told me this would cost about $200 with labor and not be covered under warranty because the steering wheel was tampered with. I feel that I can't argue with that, and they are a mod friendly dealership. It just sucks that I may have screwed something up I've tried the ecu resets posted on this forum and checked for loose wires, but I still can't get that light to go away. Anyone else have any ideas before I go back to the dealership?

Did you pinch a cable or damage a harness clip when you did the paddle install?
This doesn't sound like something you're gonna be able to fix yourself, unfortunately.

damn, now you're freaking me out as i just ordered my paddles.

As a note, before I'd pay the dealer, why not just open up the column again and check for a loose connection (or pinched wire as aeson said). It's gotta be something like that as you said it happened some time after the install. something must have wiggled loose.

good luck, let us know how it goes.

Johnny... the install is fairly easy. Just take your time.
A lot of people look for bragging rights on how quickly they get a mod installed.
Plan on this taking a few hours and have 2-3 three beers during the install and you'll be fine.

Aesonvirus, I may have pinched a wire harness, but the car was fine for about 1 week after I got it back from the dealership. Johnyzee, dont be discouraged about doing this aesonvirus is right when he says take your time! Make sure you have all the proper tools laid out when you get ready for the install= less trips to the auto store.

Try This before you going to the Stealership.

To reset the light, you must turn the key to on, watch the airbag light stay solid for 5-7 secs and as soon as the airbag light turns off, turn the key to the off position (you have to turn the key to off before the airbag light starts to flash, or you must start over). You need to repeat this 5 times. (5 times)
Try to start the car, and hopefully the light will be reset.

All Stealer is the same S~ck!!!! They'll find da way to get yur money out of the pocket.

JohnyZee: Don't worry to much. The install very simple!

Thank you for posting these instructions. My airbag light was on for some unknown reason, and after performing this sequence it is now off.

Now if I could just figure out how to turn the tpms sensor off. I have a low battery in one of them. The dealer is 3 hrs away and I don't want to make a special trip just for this.

As far as the tpms you may be able to go to a regular tire shop and get one or if you have a Nissan dealer it should be a for sure there.

Airbag light is already back on. There is obviously something wrong so I'd better make an appointment with the dealer.
Nissan had the tpms sensor, but it was $200 to install it. Infiniti will do it under warranty, I just didn't want to make a special trip for a simple sensor.
